Payments

Slotted supports card payments through Stripe and direct methods like cash, Zelle, and Venmo. You can offer cards, direct methods, or both — your choice appears to customers at checkout.

Connect Stripe for card payments

At Settings → Stripe, choose Connect Stripe to accept card payments. Slotted creates a Stripe Express account for you and sends you to Stripe's hosted onboarding, where you enter your business and banking details (about five minutes).

The section shows your status — Connected, Not connected, or Setup in progress. You're Connected only once Stripe has your details and your account can accept charges.

After connecting:

  • Show card payments on your booking page — the master toggle. Turn it off to offer only direct methods such as cash or Zelle.
  • Payouts are sent to your connected Stripe account on Stripe's payout schedule. You manage that schedule in Stripe's own dashboard, not in Slotted.

Use Disconnect Stripe if you ever need to remove the connection — payment processing for your workspace stops until a new account is connected.

Direct payment methods

In the Direct payments section, turn on Show direct payment methods on the booking page and fill in the methods you accept — Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal — with the recipient name, handle, email, phone, or payment link for each, plus a note customers see. These payments are handled outside Stripe; customers get your instructions after the booking is confirmed.

You need at least one payment route

Bookings can't be taken until either Stripe is connected or direct payment methods are enabled. The booking page blocks checkout and tells you which route is missing.

Deposits

Deposits are configured per service — see Pricing, deposits & fees. At checkout the customer pays the deposit by card, or is told your deposit is due after the booking is locked in when they chose a direct method.

Card processing fee

Stripe charges 2.9% + 30¢ for each successful card transaction. At Settings → Stripe → Credit card fee, turn on Pass the credit card fee to clients to add a separately labeled processing fee when a client pays by card. Customers see the fee as its own line before paying.

Compliance

Card surcharge rules vary by jurisdiction — some places prohibit passing the fee to customers, and others cap the amount. Check your local rules before enabling; the toggle shows a reminder.

Refunds

When you cancel a booking with a refundable deposit inside the refund window, Slotted refunds the customer's card automatically and records the refund in the booking's payment summary. For exceptional refunds — for example, a non-refundable deposit you've chosen to return — issue them from the booking's payment summary.

Overstay and extra-people charges

After a session, use Extra Charge on the booking to charge the customer's saved card for overstays or extra people — see Managing bookings. Nothing is charged automatically.
